Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets out what you may and may not do with YourPond. This policy is incorporated into the Terms of Service. Violating this policy may result in account suspension or termination.

1. Why This Policy Exists

YourPond is a tool for organizing information about people in your life. Because it stores personal data about individuals who have not created accounts or consented to being in the system, responsible use is essential. This policy exists to protect both you and the people whose information you store.

2. Permitted Use

YourPond is designed for personal relationship management. Permitted uses include:

  • Tracking personal contacts, friends, family, and professional connections
  • Recording location and job history for your contacts
  • Mapping relationships between people you know
  • Organizing introductions and social connections
  • Importing contacts from your own email accounts or device address book
  • Using natural language entry to add contacts
  • Using your data to stay informed about the people in your life

3. Prohibited Use

You may not use YourPond for any of the following purposes:

3a. Stalking, Harassment, or Surveillance

  • Tracking someone's location, movements, or activities without their knowledge for the purpose of monitoring, intimidating, or harassing them
  • Building dossiers on individuals for the purpose of harassment, threats, or retaliation
  • Storing information about protective orders, restraining orders, or legal disputes for the purpose of circumventing them

3b. Commercial or Organizational Use

  • Using YourPond as a sales CRM, marketing database, or lead tracking tool
  • Storing contact data for commercial outreach, cold emailing, or advertising
  • Using YourPond on behalf of a business, organization, or employer to manage customer or employee data
  • Reselling, redistributing, or sharing YourPond data with third parties for commercial purposes

3c. Data Collection and Scraping

  • Importing or bulk-entering data obtained through scraping, data brokers, or unauthorized access to other systems
  • Using YourPond to aggregate data from multiple sources to build profiles on individuals without a personal relationship
  • Making automated requests to YourPond, including scraping, crawling, or using bots
  • Connecting email accounts that you do not own or are not authorized to access
  • Importing device contacts without a legitimate personal reason for storing them

3d. Harmful or Illegal Activity

  • Storing data that facilitates illegal activity
  • Using YourPond in any way that violates applicable law, including data protection laws
  • Storing sensitive personal data (medical records, financial account numbers, government ID numbers) about others
  • Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or access YourPond's source code or infrastructure
  • Interfering with or disrupting YourPond's systems or other users' access
  • Knowingly posting malicious code or content that could harm YourPond or its users

4. Account Sharing

Each YourPond account is for a single individual. You may not share your account credentials with anyone or allow others to access your account. You may not create multiple accounts.

5. Enforcement

If we become aware of a violation of this policy, we may:

  • Issue a warning and request corrective action
  • Temporarily suspend your account
  • Permanently terminate your account
  • Report illegal activity to appropriate authorities

We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before taking action, except where immediate action is necessary to prevent harm or comply with legal obligations.

6. Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is using YourPond in violation of this policy, or if you are an individual who believes your personal data has been stored in YourPond inappropriately, contact us at hello@yourpond.io. We take all reports seriously and will investigate within a reasonable timeframe.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 7 days before they take effect. Continued use of YourPond after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
